I tested this by adding two teaspoons to my black coffee to see if it could work as a true substitute for real milk. The flavor and texture were pretty close, and it did a good job of giving my coffee a creamier taste. The main drawback is that no matter how long I stirred, I could never get all of the solids to fully dissolve. A few small bits remained at the bottom every time.I could see myself keeping this in the pantry for situations when I run out of fresh milk and need something quick, but it’s probably not something I would use every day. On the positive side, it does add a noticeable amount of protein, which is a nice bonus in the morning.Overall, it’s a convenient and reasonably good milk alternative, especially for occasional use.
Good milk powder. It mixes up easily even in cold water; I used a milk frother wand. Very fine powder, no clumping. Good texture, similar to skim milk, perhaps a touch thicker.Good taste. Drank straight it's apparent it is powdered milk but still tasty. There is however a very, very slight almost metallic after taste. The aftertaste was not apparent when used in a smoothie or in coffee. This recloseable bag holds about 17 servings which, when made at 8oz each, comes out to 8.5 pints or just over a gallon.Product of Finland.
The best way I can describe this is that it tastes like skim milk, but something's missing. I think it's the lactose. It tastes like skim milk, but it's missing that sweetness that milk has to it. That makes it taste kind of weird. This isn't that big of a problem if you are going to make chocolate milk or mix it into your smoothies or whatever. It just makes it a bit weird if you try to just drink it. It's not that good on its own.I mix this in a small blender. Honestly, that's the best way to mix it. If I were going to put this in coffee, I would mix it first. It will mix with a spoon, but it takes forever. It's not as easy as something like powdered creamer. It certainly does work as a creamer. However, it's not exactly creamy. It's surprising just how well this incorporates into water. It barely changes the viscosity of water when you use the directed amount. That is two tablespoons for 6 to 8 oz of water. That is both impressive and strange.I do not do well with lactose. Well, normally I don't. I really don't understand the way I'm lactose intolerant. Sometimes I can drink milk all I want, and other times I can't. Sometimes a little bit of cheese gives me very unhappy stomach times, and other times I can chug a whole glass of milk and nothing happens. I guess it depends on what my body feels like doing today. Regardless, this stuff didn't do anything to me. It does contain the lactase enzyme, so that should help anyway. As far as value for money goes, it's not spectacular. It is convenient. It's nice and shelf stable. That's certainly good. However, it's probably a little bit too expensive for my tastes. There's really not as much in there as you might think.
I was lactose intolerant as a child, but mostly outgrew it as an adult. That said, I do drink regular milk as well. I got this powder primarily to use as an additive to nutrition drinks that I make. In this capacity, it works very well. The powder has a good consistency and mostly mixes in without issue given enough time and effort. It has a much better flavor than other milk powders I have tried, the others having almost a sour taste to them. This tastes pleasantly like milk, with a little unexpected aftertaste that is likely due to some of the fortified nutrients added, but that isn't off-putting. The ingredients are overall clean, and I plan on trying to experiment some with it and use it in other recipes as well.
I've been trying out the Healthier Comforts Lactose Free Fortified Milk Protein Blend, and I am really impressed with how well it fits into my daily routine. I primarily use this powder in my shakes and smoothies, and it blends perfectly every time. I was worried it might have a weird protein powder taste, but it has a really nice, light milk flavor to it—it's not overpowering at all. Crucially, I'm happy to report that I don't experience any aftertaste or any negative side effects after using it, which can be a common issue with protein blends.Even though the milk flavor is quite light, it does exactly what I need it to do! It's packed with high protein and fortified with essential vitamins like B, D, and E, plus it’s non-GMO, gluten-free, and Rbst hormone-free. Knowing I’m getting those extra health benefits in a clean formula makes me feel great about adding it to my diet. The quality you get for the price is fantastic. Since it works so well in my drinks, and because I appreciate the clean ingredients and lack of side effects, I would absolutely order this again!
I thought it was just lactose free powdered milk, but it is actually a protein blend. It is kind of misleading on the product page. It says “Lactose Free Fortified Milk Powder”, but the package says, Lactose Free Fortified Milk protein blend”. So one star off for that. So on to reviewing the product in the bag. It blends well with smoothies and doesn’t have a weird aftertaste when blended with fruit. My daughter uses it with frozen fruit and says it tastes good. I tried reconstituting some as the directions stated and found that it took a bit to get it blended. And if just using it by itself, it is definitely best when it is cold.
I recently tried the Healthier Comforts Lactose Free Fortified Milk Protein Blend, and it’s been a really versatile addition to my kitchen. The flavor is smooth and creamy without any off putting aftertaste, which makes it perfect for baking. I liked that it’s fortified with B, D, and E vitamins, giving a little extra nutritional boost with every serving. The high protein content helps keep me full, and I appreciated that it’s gluten free. It mixes easily without clumping, which is a huge plus for my muffin batters. The 12 oz size is convenient for everyday use and doesn’t take up too much space in the pantry. I would recommend highly. Thank you!
Healthier Comforts Lactose Free Fortified Milk Powder | Fortified with B, D, E Vitamins | High Protein, Non-GMO, RBST Hormone Free, Kosher, Gluten Free | Baking, Coffee Creamer, Shakes (12 oz)I wanted to try this to have on hand for a family member that can't drink milk. She was able to use this in her coffee and said it tasted good. She uses a similar product regularly so she has something to compare with. I used some in baking some muffins when I was out of milk. They came out good - just like as if I'd used milk. So it seems to be a good way to use the product. I did notice it didnt seem to dissolve completely but maybe that's typical of powdered milk, I'm not sure. But if you're baking for someone that's lactose intolerant, this is a decent choice.
I've been using this Healthier Comforts protein powder in my test kitchen, and the quality has been consistently good. The powder blends smoothly without any graininess or clumping issues that you sometimes get with protein supplements. As someone who tests a lot of ingredients, I appreciate that this is both lactose-free and fortified with vitamins B, D, and E. The protein content is solid, and it works well as a versatile ingredient rather than just a shake mix. I haven't encountered any issues with the taste or texture interfering with recipes, which is crucial for kitchen testing purposes.
I have a mild lactose intolerance and find it best if I avoid it where possible. This lactose free fortified milk tastes good and doesn’t cause the usual stomachs upset regular milk powder does. To reduce clumpiness, I find that it dissolves best in warm water and tastes a bit like skim milk when fully hydrated. I like that it’s non-GMO and also gluten free because a I’ve also recently had to cut gluten from my diet. It mixes well and tastes great in coffee and tea, which is what I primarily intended to use it with. Since I don’t need a lot in my morning beverage the package will last a while making a good value and I don’t always have access to a fridge so I enjoy the fact that it’s both shelf stable and portable.
No store around me has lactose free milk powder so I am quite satisfied.
I’ve tried this milk powder in a couple of different recipes, mainly drinks and baking, and it’s worked well so far. It mixes very smoothly with no clumping or extra effort, which I was happy about. Compared to regular milk powder, though, it does leave things a little thicker and richer. The taste is very neutral and doesn’t really taste much different from standard milk powder. I bought it specifically for the extra protein to see if it would make a noticeable difference. One example is that I used it in pineapple halwa, and the final result turned out a bit richer and thicker than usual. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, just something to be aware of depending on what you’re making.I haven’t noticed any digestion issues, and I’ve had no annoyances with the bag, clumping, or anything else.Overall, this is a pretty interesting twist on milk powder and one I’m happy with, especially if you want a little extra protein in what you’re already making.
Delicious, creamy and lactose free!
Doesn’t mix well and it’s very thick
Smooth Everyday Option for Sensitive Stomachs. I’ve been using this lactose free milk powder in my morning coffee and for quick smoothies, and it has fit easily into our routine. The taste is mild and clean, a bit like a light skim milk, so it doesn’t fight with coffee, tea, or fruit. I’ve noticed it mixes best when I start with warm water, stir it well, and then add ice if I want it cold. Once it’s fully dissolved, the texture is smooth with no chalky feel, which I really appreciate. My kids don’t even notice a difference when I use this in their hot chocolate or oatmeal. I also like that it’s non-GMO and gluten free, so it works for a wider mix of family and coworkers when I bring in baked goods made with it. It can get a little clumpy if I rush and pour it straight into cold liquid, so taking a moment to blend it helps. Overall, it’s a gentle, versatile milk alternative that delivers good value in how many different ways I can use it.
DELICIOUS and HEALTHY….. I use it in my morning protein shakes at least 6 days a week
Very good quality product! 👍
To clarify: this is not powdered milk as some reviews seem to claim. It's basically powdered milk protein, which can be used in smoothies, low-calorie ice cream alternatives, homemade chocolate milk, and other things that can benefit from both a milky flavor and being low in calories/high in protein.Pros:- The macros of this are great. 10g of protein and 70 calories. The remaining calories come from sugar, but considering milk has sugar to begin with, this isn't really unexpected.- This is allergen friendly for a lot of common allergens and intolerances: lactose, which is quite nice for vegetarians with lactose intolerance, gluten, which is good as lower-quality powders often use wheat as filler, etc.- Using this for homemade ice cream is great, as it functions as a thickener and a way to add proteinCons:- It's expensive, but this isn't totally unexpected as it's pure protein- It doesn't dissolve super well. I find that dissolving it in hot water first helps, but this can be a problem if you're making regular chocolate milk, or smoothies with ice, etc. It can clump up if you're not careful- The bag is kind of annoying to open and close. I feel like they could use a better zipper mechanism. All in all, really solid product as long as you know what to use it for. Don't just use it as powdered milk replacement -- it's expensive and doesn't mix easily -- but as a milk-based protein supplement ingredient, it's great
I liked it. The flavor Is good, great quality and mixed perfectly.
I thought it will look like milk powder but it more like flour. It’s hard to mixt, always clumping and settles the bottom. Maybe not for use in coffee. The packaging is pretty good and quick delivery from the seller.
I love ❤️
