A pantry staple for occasional baking

Since I do not drink cow milk, I usually struggle when a recipe calls for it. Buying a whole carton of fresh milk for just one or two dishes often leads to waste because the leftovers go bad before I can use them again. This organic whole milk powder provides a great solution by giving me about seven cups of shelf-stable milk that stays ready in my pantry.I have not tried mixing this into a liquid to drink, so I cannot tell you how it tastes on its own. Instead, I add the powder directly to my dry ingredients before combining everything else. It works quite well for my cooking and baking needs. It is convenient to have this on hand so I can bake whenever I need to without worrying about whether my milk has spoiled.

A Versatile Ingredient That Can Be Enjoyed As Is Or Incorporated Into A Myriad Of Dishes

Healthier Comforts Organic Whole Milk Powder is a versatile ingredient that can be enjoyed as is or incorporated into a myriad of dishes both savory and sweet. The resealable bag holds 7 ounces (198 grams) of fluffy, cream colored milk powder. The manufacturer thoughtfully included instructions to both reconstitute the powder as a beverage and when using it for baking purposes. The powder can be used to pair with your favorite hot chocolate, coffee and/or tea and used in countless homemade baked goods from breads to cakes to cookies. To make a cup of milk, you just need 4 tablespoons of powder and 1 cup of water. If you are using the milk in a baked good, you will need to add 1 cup of water to your wet ingredients while adding the 4 tablespoons of milk powder to your dry ingredients. It blended in easily with the water and left no lumps or clumps at the base of the cup. It is a rich and delicious whole milk that has a fresh flavor. I have used it to make mashed potatoes with scrumptious results. The whole milk powder is incredibly convenient to always have milk on hand without having to worry about using it up quickly as you do when you buy it in the refrigerated section. It is also easy to take with you when you are camping and backpacking. For me, I like to keep milk powder as part of my earthquake preparation kit to not only be able to make milk by just adding water and be able to make the portion that I need, but to also have a shelf stable source of protein. The sole ingredient is organic whole milk solids. It is a USDA Certified Organic, Non-GMO, Kosher, Gluten Free, and Hormone and Antibiotic Free product that is Made in the USA. There are 14 servings per container with each 2 tablespoon serving containing 70 Calories, 4g Total Fat, 5g Total Carbohydrate, and 4g Protein. The bag that I received has a best by date of 19 months from the date that I received it. Overall, I am really happy with this product and will definitely add it again to my Amazon cart.

Perfect Milk Powder for DIY Hot Cocoa Jars

I’m impressed. I had never had powdered milk before today but I will say this Organic Whole Milk Powder is actually good. As soon as you open it, you’ll smell a scent similar to Parmesan cheese but a bit lighter. Once you reconstitute it with water, it smells like fresh milk and it tastes delicious. I used hot water and the powder mixed quickly into the regular milk texture and consistency. I made hot cocoa since it has rained the last few days. If you have ever made DIY hot cocoa jars for Christmas gifting this milk powder would be perfect to use in them. The best part for me is that it is shelf stable so you can use it at your convenience. The expiration date is on the back and it is over two years before it expires. This is one of those items that is a good value for the shelf stability and I can see myself reordering when I finish this pack. I highly recommend it.

Good Flavor and Very Convenient

I have had a hard time finding whole milk powder locally lately, so I was glad to come across this. It comes in a resealable bag with 12 ounces of fine whole milk powder, which is especially convenient if you do not regularly keep fresh milk in the fridge. The powder itself looks and smells good. It has a rich cream color with a slight yellow tint, and the flavor is full and slightly sweet. It does taste closer to fresh whole milk than I expected, though with a subtle cooked-milk quality rather than tasting exactly like milk straight from the carton. To use it as drinking milk, you just mix 1/4 cup of powder with 1 cup of warm water. It dissolves pretty quickly and comes together easily. I have also found it useful as an ingredient on its own for baking bread or cookies, where it can help with browning, softness, and a slightly richer flavor. It is a little pricey for powdered milk, but the shelf stability is a real advantage. I also appreciate that it is hormone and antibiotic free.Overall, this is a good option and versatile if you want the convenience of shelf-stable whole milk powder for drinking, baking, or just keeping on hand when fresh milk is not something you buy often.

Excellent Long-Lasting Pantry Stock and Great for Baking Recipes

This organic milk powder is a must-have as a pantry staple. It's an excellent backup if you run short of milk, or if your milk goes bad, and you're in the middle of a recipe. It's also a great thing to have on-hand in the event of a power outage. Personally, I like it for baking and cooking better than real milk, where I don't need to rehydrate it....like bread recipes, mashed potatoes, white sauces, pancakes/waffles and it's awesome in eggs (try it, it makes them very fluffy). This really improves the taste and texture of any recipe I use it in.I have tried to also use this in coffee but I don't find that in powder form that it mixes well without premixing into a liquid, then adding it. And I find that I need to use an electric whisk to get all the lumps out it when I mix it with water. So I tend not to use it this way because it's a bit of work. If I needed as a liquid, making a larger batch with a blender and storing it in the fridge after hydrating would probably work best. I also find the reconstituted taste ok...but not the same as real milk...so just as milk, it's more of a backup for me. I find this really shines in recipes though...especially because it's easy to measure and use.

Reliable Powdered Milk for Camping and Backup Use

I grabbed this small bag of milk powder mostly for camping trips and just having something shelf-stable around the house. With kids, we go through milk pretty fast, and it’s not always practical to keep fresh milk when you’re out in the woods or trying to put together an emergency box. This seemed like an easy backup to have on hand.First thing I noticed was how well it mixes. I’ve had powdered milk before that clumps up no matter what you do, and this one didn’t give me that problem. Shook it up in a bottle at the campsite and it came out smooth enough without a bunch of chunks floating around. That alone makes it a lot more usable when you don’t have all the tools you’d have at home.Taste-wise, it’s better than I expected. It’s not exactly the same as fresh milk, but it’s close enough that I didn’t mind drinking it, and the kids didn’t complain either, which says a lot. We used it with cereal one morning while camping, and it did the job just fine. Also worked for mixing into instant oatmeal, which is a regular thing for us when we’re outdoors. It’s about as easy as it gets to use. Add water, shake or stir, and you’re done. No mess, no complicated prep, which matters when you’re dealing with limited space or trying to keep things simple. The bag itself is small enough to pack without taking up much room, and it seals up well enough to keep it from spilling everywhere. For the money, it feels like a solid value, especially considering how long it’ll last compared to regular milk. It’s not something we use every day at home, but for camping or just having a backup supply, it makes sense. I can also see it being useful if you run out of milk unexpectedly and don’t feel like making a store run. One ingredient.Overall, it’s a practical item that does what you need it to do without any hassle. Good taste, mixes well, and easy to store. We’ll probably grab another bag to keep in the emergency kit just in case.

great for baking

This organic whole milk powder is a great choice if you are into baking milk bread because it mixes smoothly into the dough and adds that soft pillowy texture that makes the loaf feel extra rich and tender. I like that it is easy to keep on hand since it is shelf stable and comes in a resealable bag so I can use a little for a batch of bread and still have plenty left for other recipes or baking experiments. It dissolves well into liquids and does not leave a grainy feel in the final product which makes it simple to substitute for fresh milk when I am short on time or just want to keep things dry and organized. Overall it is a solid pantry staple that really shines when I am making soft fluffy milk breads at home.

Good taste

This whole milk powder is convenient to use and tastes good when fully mixed with water. I have tried other products from this brand and have had disappointing results getting the powder to mix without clumping and fortunately this product mixes a bit better than others. When I tried mixing with a spoon in cold water it mixed well but when I mixed with hot coffee it did not and I was left with several clumps which I had to fish out and discard. I suspect that using a hand mixer or protein shaker would yield better results but I did not try either of these methods. The taste itself is good and has the familiar quality and flavor of whole milk in a much more convenient form. Overall this is a nice way to have fresh milk in places where refrigeration is not easily accessible like traveling or camping so despite my luck with mixing I would still recommend it to others.

Tastes like ... milk!

This tastes like milk. Nothing more, nothing less. But that is a great thing for powdered milk! The quality is clear. It lacks that chemical "twang" found in cheaper brands. It’s incredibly creamy and rich. It is quite versatile, like most most milk. I use it in many ways - mostly breakfast cereal when I run out of regular milk. It is great to have on hand due to its long shelf life.

You'll want to use a blender

One quick note about this, it's not a spoon blend powder. Use a blender. I have one of those personal blenders, or smoothie blenders or whatever you want to call them. It's perfect for this kind of thing. If you try to use a spoon, you're going to have a bad time. It will blend with cold water, but only with a blender. That does mean you don't just scoop it into coffee like it's creamer. That won't work. One thing to note is that the zipper on the bag is not the best. It is very likely that it will break. That's not the end of the world, but it's something to keep in mind. I put mine inside a different bag and called it a day.The taste is milk but not quite right. It does taste like milk, but it's missing something. I mean, it's not bad and it certainly works for cereal or whatever, but it just isn't quite right when you just drink it. It's not like I can't drink it or won't, but it's just obvious that it's not fresh milk. It's currently April of 2026. The shelf life on mine ends in November of 2027. In other words, it's good for over a year.Value for money is where this falls apart. There is one advantage for this. It's lighter than regular milk. For something like camping, it's better. For basically every other scenario, ultra pasteurized milk makes more sense, is easier to use, and is cheaper.

Healthier Comforts Organic Whole Milk Powder

This isn't the best tasting dry milk powder but in a bind or for traveling this does it's job. I like that there are no "spills" and the bag itself has a ziptop as well although I typically just pour a it into a small plastic air tight container when traveling. It just gives me an option whenI know I may not have other dairy options on the go. Other than that I do think it's pricier than my go-to dry milk powder so likely won't be reordering this one. Mixes in much better t room temp or warm beverage (lie my coffee or tea) than in cold water. Quality wise it's good but taste wise t would likely get a 2/5 from me.

Good flavor, but takes some effort to mix smoothly

This powdered milk worked well for baking, tea, and coffee, and the flavor tasted pretty natural overall. Once mixed, it had a creamy whole milk flavor that didn’t seem overly artificial or off. It’s not exactly the same as fresh milk when drinking it plain, but for cooking or mixing into other things, I didn’t really notice much difference at all.Mixing took a little extra effort, though. The powder tended to clump in water, and some of it stuck to my stir stick and the sides of the cup while mixing. It did eventually dissolve fully, but I had to stir pretty carefully to get everything incorporated smoothly. The resealable bag was convenient for storage, especially for something shelf stable.

Weird smell and taste

Has a strong cheese-like smell and taste. It's organic and whole milk, which is great. This is the same for the organic powdered cream I purchased as well. Mixes alright with some mixing.

Useful for Emergencies, but Taste, Mixing, and Price Limit It

My wife and I like to travel to remote areas with our travel trailer, where the nearest grocery store can be many miles away. I bought this Healthier Comforts Organic Whole Milk Powder thinking it might be a good product to keep on hand in case we run out of fresh milk while traveling. The only other time I’ve used powdered milk was during COVID, when regular milk supplies were occasionally disrupted. I mixed this product according to the directions. When added to cold water, it initially became a bit lumpy. After stirring with a teaspoon, letting it sit for a few minutes, and stirring again, it did dissolve completely. The taste was acceptable, but noticeably different from regular milk. My wife did not care for it at all. I found it more palatable after adding chocolate syrup. However, when I tried using it as a coffee creamer by adding it to hot coffee, it clumped badly and I could not get those clumps to dissolve, making it unsuitable for that purpose. One minor packaging issue is that the powder can get into the grooves of the zip-lock seal and prevent the bag from sealing properly. I was able to fix this by tapping the outside of the bag along the top edge to dislodge the powder, after which it sealed fine. The biggest drawback for me is the cost. It works out to over $2.00 per glass, which seems expensive for what you get. That price might be acceptable if organic ingredients are a priority, but for my needs it’s too costly, and I don’t expect to purchase it again.Overall, this product may be useful as an emergency backup when fresh milk isn’t available, but limitations in taste, mixability, and price keep it in the average range for me.

Nice to have on hand

The powder is easy to use and reconstitutes well. It’s 4TBSP of powder to 1C of water. I’m not sure why they chose TBSP instead of 1/4 C to keep the measurement type the same. It’s not a problem, it’s just odd to me. Personally, I don’t drink powdered milk, but I love to have it on hand for baking. I always seem to want to bake something that requires milk when I don’t have any milk. You don’t get a whole lot out of this (maybe 4-5 cups of milk), so keep that in mind.Review for Healthier Comforts Organic Whole Milk Powder (7 oz)

Excellent top notch pure organic whole milk powder

We use this delicious high quality and pure whole milk powder for many purposes. Smoothies, fortifying home made yogurt, baking, and adding to casseroles and other dishes to add protein and a natural dairy flavor. Has a nice aroma and a pure milk taste. Stored in an air tight container it has a long shelf life, certainly much longer than fresh milk. If you're preparing fresh milk from this powder, then a blender or food processor might give you best results. Highly approve, highly love, and highly recommend.
