Ingredients
1 Cup Fat-Free Milk (or other liquid of your choice)
6 Tbsp Healthier Comforts Cheddar Cheese Powder
2 Tbsp Butter
2 Tbsp Flour*
Salt & Pepper (to taste)
*For a gluten-free option, you can substitute the flour with corn starch.
Directions
In a bowl, mix the milk with the cheese powder and set it aside.
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Whisk in the flour to form a smooth paste (this is called a roux).
Gradually pour the milk and cheese mixture into the saucepan, whisking constantly to prevent lumps.
Continue to mix until the sauce is smooth. Bring it to a simmer and let it cook for 2 minutes, or until it reaches your desired consistency.
Remove the saucepan from the heat. Add salt and pepper to taste.
